It was late evening and I was exhausted. I turned out the light, said a quick prayer, and waited for sleep to whisk me away. But instead of drifting off, I suddenly got inspiration for a new post, bullet points and all.
My first reaction was, I’ll just write this down in the morning when I’m not so tired. But experience has taught me that half of those thoughts would vanish by sunrise.
So I turned the light back on and reached for my journal… only to remember I’d left it downstairs in my office. Inspiration was getting inconvenient.
I’m convinced if we could capture enough inspiration, like fireflies in a bottle, it would light the path to that “next level” we’re aiming for. Maybe even as far as that retirement we dream about, but never quite plan for.
Do you ever get prompted to do something, only to realize it is the worst possible time?
When (or where) are you most inspired? And what do you do with the insights that arrive when inspiration hits?
Do you capture those tiny points of light, or do you let them fade into the darkness of “tomorrow”?
